When John says his business is more about customer service than the construction trade, I know he means it. He truly wants his clients to be happy with the results, and works to that end. We had a project planned out but when John first visited he re-envisioned it in a completely different layout that gave us a much better and more efficient 3/4 bathroom and laundry room. We are happy with the results and the quality is excellent. In our experience communications was good. They showed up when they said they would and let you know when there would be a slowdown due to product availability or a subcontractor’s schedule. We are hoping to work with them again because of everything listed above, but more importantly because we trust and like John and his crew.

John is the best! We've used him for 3 projects now (two bathrooms and a major backyard transformation), and will continue to in the future. He is trustworthy, kind, timely, and honest. We came by him by chance when we first moved here a couple of years ago, so we didn't know what to expect, but he's surpassed expectations. The first project he worked on for us was a bath/shower remodel, and when the plumbers installed the tub wrong he went to bat with them for us to ensure the job was done correctly. We are two women, so it's easy for male contractors to try to steamroll us, but that day John was our hero and has continued to do an awesome job. He listens, he explains, and he tries to get you what you want - even at extra cost to himself. He's a good contractor, he and his crew consistently do great work for us, but he's also just a really good guy. We trust him, and can't recommend him enough!

John and his team completely transformed our entire home and we could not be more pleased with the results! John is honest, reliable and treated us like family. He was always easy to reach and his crew showed up when they said they would. We were new to the home renovation process so John's ability to share his expertise was incredibly helpful during the planning process. Some of the work completed included a full kitchen remodel, full master bathroom remodel (curb-less shower, heated floor, tiling, countertops...) new LVP flooring, carpeting, millwork, new windows throughout, wall texture & paint... and more. Our previously outdated 1970's home feels brand new! His crew was always polite & professional and made sure to check in with us each step along the way. You will absolutely be in good hands if you trust John with your dream project, big or small.

John and his crew were amazing. I had talked with several other designers and contractors and none of them were as organized as John. John's designer Minal had the most amazing ideas for the new bathroom layout (taking walls down and making a bigger closet and shower). John's attention to detail was very impressive! He would make changes and noticed small details and make sure they look perfect. Our bathroom is BEAUTIFUL! It turned out so much more beautiful than we ever imagined. He started our project when he said he would. He is a very good communicator in regard to budget and timeline. We did go over the original timeline but some of that was our fault as we made changes. I highly recommend John and his team, they did an amazing job! If/when we do another project we will hire him again.
Watch out for his silly jokes - you will get one every day, they are a riot!!!

We used JohnBuilds for our major remodel - kitchen, pantry, living room, bathroom, bedroom and master bed and bath. We had a few estimates done but he was very helpful and personable during our initial meeting. John was responsive to all my questions and concerns and often came by to talk to us in person. We felt very comfortable having the crew work on our home, even with our dog staying home during the remodel. It took 5 months with some delays and extra costs but he helped us through the entire process and really couldn’t have done it without his expertise. We are so happy with the quality of work plus the guys worked hard to get our house ready by baby to arrive! We recommend and trust John, plus his dad jokes are a plus! :)

Our project was the major remodeling of two bathrooms. John started with a reasonable bid and timeline. Naturally, our project had its delays and overages but they were handled well and clearly explained. Throughout the project John was excellent at communication and would promptly respond to our questions and concerns. When a difficult issue arose he would meet us on site accommodating our schedule so we could come up with a creative solution. We are very happy with the results and would use his services again.

John Builds...Came to us thru my Brother Ralph's recommendation. We were told just what to expect with our Kitchen/Family Room Remodel...and found John Evans a Man of his Word. The Kitchen is Beautiful and My Wife is very pleased with Johns Work...He then replaced many Deck Boards, and brought up the Beauty of our House...The Guys worked very clean and always came when they said they would (very important)..I would Recommend John Builds to any Person who is in Need of a Quality Builder......Thank you John for a wonderful Experience and we Trust you to do Further Work for us again...

We hired Johnbuilds LLC for a master bath tear out after having him do our kitchen remodel in 2017. John was extremely helpful in our planning stage. He listened to what we wanted and gave excellent suggestions. Once work began he kept us appraised of timeline and schedule. His drew and subcontractors did excellent work, and everyone was respectful of our house. It took a bit longer than the original estimate, but that was mainly due to delay in materials availability. Work was completed on budget and we are very happy with our bathroom remodel.

We are new to the Seattle area, and did not have a community of relationships to obtain referrals. When we purchased our house and needed a contractor to remodel our kitchen, we obtained 5 top referrals from our tile company and went to work screening them through a bidding process. JohnBuilds wasn’t the cheapest, nor the most expensive, nor the one that lived closest to us, which at the beginning was a big criteria for us in selecting our general contractor (GC). However, after interacting with all the GCs who bid on our project, we felt that John was the most straight shooting person whose words we could trust. This turned out to be the best decision we made coming to the Northwest.
Our remodeling project took on a life of its own. Once we got started, it expanded to us pretty much redoing the entire house, from tearing down the stairs, all the doors and closets, windows & windowsills, installing recessed ceiling lights in every room of the house, replacing all carpets with new hardwood flooring, building custom cabinetry all over the house, repainting all the walls and trims, adding 8 skylights, finishing the unfinished garage with storage cabinets, tearing down the huge pergolas and rotting wooden decks in the backyard and rebuilding with synthetic decking from the foundation up, to adding a cover to the deck and pouring concrete foundation for a backyard office shack. Each step of the way, as we tore things down, we discovered new repairs needed, whether it’s a foundation problem, heater and water heater needing replacement, gas lines that needed to be redirected, or getting electrical work done. As promised, John was there every step of the way, giving us suggestions and advice on ways to save money on this ever expanding project, and most importantly, getting things done in record time without compromising the quality we demanded. I was tired of my own flip flop in changing this and then changing it back. I am amazed at John’s patience. Never once did he get mad or impatient, although he would inform me of the cost of each decision and change.
We had to be out of our corporate temporary housing within 2 months of our arrival here, and John managed to get most of the work done by the time we moved in. His crew was respectful and have now become friends. One particular incident stood out to me which really touched me. John had promised that we would have our house ready by the time we returned home from our Thanksgiving break out of town. While we were away, and his crew was off, he came over to our house during the holiday period by himself and worked until midnight to finish painting our doors and trims so that we would return to a beautifully finished house. I was both thrilled and extremely touched. Of course, he did excellent work!
Since pictures speak more than a thousand words, I have taken plenty of pictures to document the miraculous transformation of this house, not just stylistically, but from a crumbling old structure to a solid new house that will last us for the next couple of decades with flying colors. We are so thrilled with JohnBuilds and would enthusiastically recommend him to all our new friends in the Bellevue area who will need work done on their house. He’s not the cheapest, and his jokes can be corny and sometimes hard to understand, but he won’t smooth talk or promise things that he can’t deliver, and will always show up as promised. This kind of integrity is hard to find in a rapidly busy and expanding area like Seattle where contractors have way too much work to do to worry about honoring their words. I trust and high recommend JohnBuilds wholeheartedly.

From our first contact and through out the job there was excellent communication. The work was done per our schedule with outstanding quality at a competitive price. Thank you John !

I hired JohnBuilds for a studs-out bathroom renovation (replace all fixtures; tiled floor, shower enclosure, and wainscot; new vanity, medicine cabinet, lighting, door, etc) and am very satisfied with their work.
John was VERY easy to contact and communicate with; he and his guys generally showed up on time as agreed; he listened to any and all of my concerns and addressed them promptly; and did a great job -- the bathroom looks fantastic and functions perfectly. They also did a good job of cleaning up afterward: all debris, etc was removed completely.
There were some delays due to some fixtures not coming in on time and plumber scheduling (duh, it's a renovation) and also to the time it took to do the tile (I had a custom pattern), so the actual work took about twice as long as expected (6 weeks instead of 3). It helped that I had a very specific list of requirements; if I'd been more specific about the tile design at the start it would not have caused a delay.
The project came in at estimate EXCEPT for two cost overruns that were due to my decisions: a more expensive countertop stone, and additional cost associated with the custom tile design. Again, the tile cost could have been avoided or correctly estimated if I'd been more specific up front.
I would gladly hire JohnBuilds again.

Johnbuilds LLC remodeled my master bath and worked closely with me during the time I made design changes. The project involved heated flooring in master bath and the walk-in closet, New linen style ceramic tile on floor and an expanded 3/8 inch glass walk-in shower with multiple shower heads and body sprays were extremely well done. An added design idea from John was to replace the 1970's boxed in soaker tub with a freestanding MAAX JAZZ tub with a free standing filler with shower handle! Awesome!. John's idea really opened the room and allowed me to add rock style ceramic tile to the wall behind the tub plus a nice towel warmer next to the glass shower wall. Could not be happier with it and fully enjoy my new expanded shower and warm tiles! And have to admit not being a tub guy the chromatherapy lights in the JAZZ tub turned out be a good idea. Johnbuilds is now my preferred builder and I would use him again. In fact he is preparing an estimate for my house trim (repair a few boards and repaint).

I purchased an older condo and pretty much had all of it re-done other than the kitchen cabinets and the bathtub tiles in one bathroom. All the walls and ceilings were re-painted including getting rid of the popcorn ceiling. The various floorings throughout were replaced. I also had all new interior doors, new bathroom vanities installed as well as a new hot water heater. John was prompt in responding to phone calls and e-mails. He knew I had to stick to a budget and helped me to do that.
After work had been started on my living room ceiling it became evident that there was a leak around the chimney. A large hole had to be cut through the beautiful new smooth surface to fix the problem. John and his workers kept at it until they had it all back together as smooth as before.
John is easy-going, worked long hours, and often on Saturdays in order to keep things moving. He kept at the job until all was completed to my satisfaction.

We were remodeling a home office, and John was referred to us by a custom cabinet company. He did an excellent job of installing the cabinets, complete with crown molding and custom shelving. I was very happy with his ability to solve problems on-site, and his guidance with everything from countertops to electrical outlet and computer cable access. His prices are very reasonable, he finishes the job in a timely manner, and he is a pleasure to work with. I would absolutely recommend him, and will likely use him for future projects.

John is an absolute gem! I have hired him for painting jobs and a deck project. I have also connected him with clients doing house remodels. He is quite versatile: painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical etc.. He has built full houses too. He is very reasonably priced and straight-forward. Perhaps most importantly, he is very easy (and fun) to work with. He's an excellent communicator and he is very customer-service driven. I would highly recommend him for a wide range of projects.
